the Remembrance Square travelling exhibition on show in Zarautz until 13 October.

The Gogora Director, Aintzane Ezenarro, and the Mayor of Zarautz, Xabier Txurruka, presented the Remembrance Square travelling exhibition which will be opened in Zarautz on 4 October. The exhibition complies and showcases witness accounts of what happened in the Basque Country in recent decades in order to build a shared and pluralistic memory. The exhibition can be visited in the Plaza Munoa square until 13 October.
During the presentation, Ezenarro stressed the “success” of this travelling exhibition that has already visited Bilbao, Durango, Tolosa, Gasteiz, Eibar and Donostia-San Sebastián, and the plan is to take it to other towns during 2017. “We believe that taking the exhibition to the people is more efficient that mounting the exhibition at our centre as we want to foster citizen participation and this is the best way to do so,” he explained.
The Gogora Director stressed that many schools were expected to organise guided visits of the exhibition in Zarautz, which shows that “we are increasingly less fearful about the past” and that there is shared will for a critical reflection to be carried out of what happened to construct solid foundations for looking ahead.
